With the Moon in your eye.
Like a big pizza pie.
Love is everywhere. Love is in the air.
^^^^^
Did you do this too? Third grade, fourth grade.
Little, two inch by three inch Valentine’s Day cards, stuffed into tiny, white envelopes.
Write your name on it and tape a paper lunch bag to the side of desk, viola - an elementary mailbox
Deliver mini - I choo, choo, choose YOU cards, with a picture of a train engine, hearts spewing from its stack.
We had to bring a card for everyone in our class. I don’t know, something like 25 - 30, I think tiny cards, carefully picked.
Best Friends got the best card, but
A card for everyone. Everyone equal. Classroom socialism.
And then we Par-Tayed.
Everyone was tasked to bring a treat or two, to be shared with the whole class. (More socialism.)
That’s the way it was, third, fourth grade, when I was a wee lad.
When I was little. Where I grew up.
^^^^^
And if not for photographs, Kodachrome, chemistry on glossy paper, I don’t know that I would have remembered this.
A Valentine’s Day party, in (of course) my Parent’s basement.
In the year, one - nine - eight - zero. I was a senior in high school. Not so wee - anymore.
Look at me. That Guy. Attention to detail. Mr Good Time Guy, my Mom used to call me that - then. Mr Good Time Guy.
I couldn’t have done it without my Parents help. Behind the scenes, they supported me. They made me (my parties) look good.
I think, I am quite sure, that they vicariously enjoyed my fun. Our fun.
My Mom and Dad quietly, behind the scenes, enjoyed what we were doing. Kids being kids, having - one heck of a lot of fun.
Good Parents. I love my Mom and Dad. Miss them. (Gone, but not the love. The love, it is still here. I can feel it. Love received, it lives on.)
^^^^^
And finally, today - another party.
Not Valentine's Day.
A different type of party. A party centered around - a game.
It is just a game. Entertainers, highly skilled Entertainers. Entertainment.
An American game with today’s crescendo (game) having international reach.
A game that has become so big, renowned, some people just watch - get this - For The Commercials. (No - - - I kid you not - REALLY.)
A game - so big - it has a spin off version, with Puppies and other Animal Imitators.
A game - that has become - Soooo Big,
That now, it has - it’s very own -
Bogie & Bacall, Sam & Dianne, Bonnie & Clyde, Johnny Cash & June Carter
A game WITH A love story. A game AND a love story. (No really. It’s true.)
Big Pizza Pies - and love. (How can ANYONE, anywhere - not - like - that?)
Love in the Air. Football AND love. Crazy right? (U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A)
Win, lose, draw
The safe money says - wait for it -
Hugs and Kisses at the end.
Love, love, love - silly love songs.
What’s wrong with that? I’d like to know. So here we go.
Again…
I love you.
Enjoy the ride. Enjoy the show. Spread some love around - today.
"And if I say I really loved you
And was glad you came along
And you were here today
Ooo ooo ooo, for you were in my song
Ooo ooo ooo, here today". McCartney
